Continued Questions:
1) What do you think the Japanese people will think of you?
A: It's hard to say overall. I think for the most part they will be very curious about me and interested to see how I adapt to the Japanese way of life but more importantly, how far I am willing to go in order to respect and learn about their customs and culture. I'm hoping that they'll use me as a great source of knowledge about England and the differences between the countries but at the same time I'm hoping to learn a great deal from the Japanese as well. However I do think that after a couple of months they will see us as any other normal person once the novelty wears off but I'm sure that cultural exchanges between us will continue to thrive throughout the year.
2) What are your goals for your trip to Japan?
A: It depends what you mean by goals. Overall I want to have a fantastic and fun year abroad while working in a profession that I thoroughly enjoy. At the same time I also want it to be really educational in that I will get to learn about the Japanese language and culture while also sharing my own experiences and knowledge of English culture. Finally, I want to be a little selfish and have fun travelling around and seeing all the different sights in Japan, but obviously I am there to work :( but I know for certain I'll enjoy it either way.
3) What do you expect from Japan and it's culture?
A: Strictness, respect and honour. I'm certain these three elements will form the foundation of culture within Japan and it's what I expect. Of course however, I do expect to have a lot of fun and enjoy myself whilst out there but from the perspective of the culture itself then I feel as though it will be important to try and learn all the social customs and to try my best.
4) On a scale of 1 to 10, how excited are you for going to Japan?
A: 100. I seriously cannot wait to get over there and start my year abroad. There are so many things I am looking forward to really, that I can't actually list all of them. There are a few little worries in the back of my mind but overall I am just desperate to leave and I think it's my time really as you tend to grow restless after being in the same place for 18 years :P
5) Do you plan to date in Japan?
A: I was hesitant to include this question but I felt I may as well answer it now. Overall, I have no outstanding plans to pursue anything whilst over in Japan. This is pretty much due to the fact that I am only there for a year before I'll be moving back home to England. In addition, it could cause many problems as I am a teacher within the community and therefore am expected to set an example to the students. So overall the answer is a no and if anything did happen then I would be keeping that strictly personal as to avoid it affecting my day to day work.
That's all folks! Hope you enjoyed the videos and remember, if you think of any further questions then please don't hesitate to get in touch and ask me.
